New Drug For Prostate Cancer


Good news for prostate cancer patients and those at risk of contracting specific diseases such men. A pill that is taken once a day was found to reduce prostate cancer, even in patients who no longer can be treated with other therapies.

The study was conducted by Dr. Johann de Bono, Institute of Cancer Research UK scientists.
10 thousand men in the UK diagnosed with this disease. and life expectancy for those who do chemotherapy so far no more than 18 months. The first killer for both men have lung cancer, while prostate cancer ranked second.

Prevent cancer drug produces hormones that make cancer cells can survive. Based on the belief that tumor tissues could produce their own supply of hormones to survive.
Drugs that target an enzyme called CYP17. Enzyme that plays a key role in the formation of these cancerous hormones.

Bono hoped, at the latest by 2011 Abiraterone labeled drug that was to be thrown into the market. Based on phase one clinical trial, the drug can delay the worsening of the disease to an average of 400 days.
